A lifelong Labour voter, I was inspired by the leadership of Jeremy Corbyn so joined up in 2017. I wanted to be part of a democratic movement for change and continue fighting for equality. A youth worker and basketball coach, I am also a trained Citizenship teacher who teaches Health & Social Care & Sociology. I am proud to say I was a Looked After Child & I am a mixed race black woman.
Black history, afriphobia, education and the environment are my areas of passion and (some!) expertise. I joined MBC to be able to focus on issues specifically affecting black people and improving black representation within the Labour party.
